The TAFL held its annual presentation night last night with several players receiving awards. In the lead up to the Tony Gillies medal the other awards given out were to the players, coach, manager and umpires that represented the TAFL at the AFL NSW/ACT Regional Championships in Wagga Wagga over the long weekend in June. Mr Ron Crump from the Nomads received an AFL NSW/ACT volunteer award for the North West region. The inaugural Southern Cross Ten Rising Star award was won by the Bulldogs’ Troy Campbell. The Sporting Pulse coach’s award was won by the Kangaroos’ Tim Cotter. The TAFL umpire of the year was awarded to Mark Stocker. The inaugural Gerry Griffiths Medal for the leading Goal Kicker of the year was awarded to Weston Whitby with 61 goals and a TAFL record of 19 goals in the game against the Muswellbrook Cats just a week ago. This got him over the line in this award. Mr Tony Gillies awarded the medal named in his honour to the Kangaroos’ Tim Cotter who is playing just his first year of football in the TAFL after relocating to Tamworth from Newcastle this year.
