The Saints have been the pace setters in the Country Energy TAFL for the last for years. They are arguably the most consistent club in the CETAFL since their arrival in 2005. They have made the finals every year including the Grand Final for the last 4 years in a row, 3 at home, for 2 Premiership Cups.
The Saints will go into the 2011 season with Premiership coach Nick Baird back to defend their Cup. They also have the very experienced Dick Gleeson back as President.
The biggest blow for the Saints this year will be the loss 2010 Tony Gillies Medallist Corey Wheeler and gun backman Shaun Mansbridge. Wheeler and Mansbridge are heading back home to Victoria, but as they leave it opens up more opportunities for others. Coach Nick Baird says "The Saints have been in contact with a couple of players from Victoria about playing this year and progress is going well." The big question will be can he convince veteran club stalwarts Jason Gobbert, Gary Hadland, Peter Dunlop and the evergreen Dick Gleeson to continue playing. They started training for their defence on the 25th of January.
Prediction: The rest of the CETAFL will be expecting the Saint bubble to burst after such a sustained reign. But as they have the runs, or goals, on the board I will have to predict them finish 1st at the end of the home and away season.
