AFL NSW/ACT Umpiring Department is excited to announce a new program: Young Leaders - Staying in the Game aimed at helping reduce the amount of umpires that drop out each year.
Each year umpiring loses 25% to 35% of umpires annually. With strong recruitment programs in place for umpires the challenge is to reduce the non-return rate to fewer than 20% each year.
Young Leaders that are selected will be involved in leadership sessions to develop new Retention Programs. Once developed the Young Leaders will then assist in implementing the program to improve retention.
The Young Leaders - Staying in the Game Project is expected to run from October 2016 to April 2017.
