The Nomads have improved on their 2007 season, 4th, by finishing third on the TAFL ladder in 2008. Although the Nomads will be bitterly disappointed to have bowed out after being thumped by the Saints in the preliminary final they can be very happy with the fact that they got everything out of their playing list that they could.
People would think that the Nomads best win this year would be their win over the Cats in Tamworth where star full forward Weston Whitby kicked 18 goals on his trusty left foot and 1 goal on his right. But I think their best win was when they travelled down to the Cattery during Uni holidays with a very undermanned side against one of the Cats better teams to come away with a 10 point win.
By the very nature of the Nomads make up, they usually have a significant turnover of players each year. They will sorely miss their captain courageous, Glen Northway, when he graduates Uni. They can only hope he hangs around Armidale when he does graduate and the TAFL rep team also hopes so, as he has been a great contributor to the TAFL team over the past 2 years.
All in all though, the Nomads have had a good year and they should be proud of their efforts.
