What a start to the season, with the winners all winning by big margins. Me thinks I might have to readjust my margins for this week.
Last years premiers sit on top of the ladder in a perfect start to the season. The Eagles are the ones that impressed me. What a comeback by them, a 9 goal win and 2nd on the ladder. That could possibly be a first for them, it was good to see that old Cat Stuie McAdam hasn't lost it with 6 goals. The disappointment for me was the Doggies loss. After the heroics of the last year to lose by 8 goals on your own dung hill is huge. And another old stager in Tassie Overeem has his straight left boot on with 7 goals.
So to this week,
Game 1- The Saints are playing their first game for the year and are at home to the Eagles. This will be a test to see if the Eagles can do it away from home. I don't think the Eagles have ever beaten the Saints at Inverell so that will go against them. The Saints have played in the last 3 grand finals and deserve to go into this game as favorites. This should be a close game but I thought that in round 1. Saints by 24 points.
Game 2- The Cats are at home to the Bullies and we all know cats and dogs fight so this should be an interesting game. The Bullies will be hurting after last week and looking at last years results the Cattery holds no fears for them. The up side is the Cats traveled well to the Eagles nest and weren't disgraced. I think the Cats will win their first game for 2 years by a margin of 13 points.
Game 3- The local derby between the Swans and the Roos is on early this year. Going through the archives I saw that these 2 clubs know play for the Billy Holder Cup. What a great idea that is and a wonderful way to acknowledge the efforts of the old Crow supporter. Both clubs had good wins last week and this will again be another no holds barred fight to the finish. I will go for the Swans by 9 points.
So much for blowing out my margins. And that leaves the Nomads with the bye.
Until next week in the words of the great Rex Hunt yibbida yibbida thank your mother for the rabbits.
