Tracy Village Jets v Ansett

Tracy Village survived a scare in the early stages of their game against Ansett to record a 78-66 victory. The Jets had to stage a comeback to take out the win and they did it through Abby Cubillo, Sam Rioli and Tikesa Docherty-Cole who combined for 56 points. The Bombers were down 18-13 after a quarter of play but Kylie Duggan and Rioli lit a fire under their side to power back in the second quarter with a 22-15 run to take the lead at halftime 35-33. In the third quarter Abby Cubillo lit up the score board with 10 of her team high 20 points to push out the Jet lead even further as they ran their record out to 8-1 after nine rounds of play. Kisha Lee led Ansett with 21, Tamara Sheppard had 17 and Tamiyah Perkins hit 13.

Razzle v Lightning

Razzle picked up their first win of the season at the expense of Lightning who went down 59-49. Erin Boyd led the way with 17 points and Caitlin Wortlehock chipped in with 10. Brittany Ward was the only Lightning player to hit double figures with 17.

League Men – Ansett v Tracy Village Jets

Ansett dumped the Tracy Village Jets 82-66 for their second win in a row. After a horrendous start to the season the Blues might have turned things around. John King is pouring in the points and Mateo Rowse and Zach Hunt are adding a bit of firepower as backup. The Blues jump started this win with a 26-12 first quarter and did much the same in the third quarter when they put together a 23-10 run to push out their lead to 63-43. King finished up with 23 points, Rowse and Hunt 15 apiece. For the loosers Travis Ellis hit a league high for the season with 39…Jake Geer added 13.

Uni Rebels v Palmerston Power

The league leading Uni Rebels thumped the Palmerston Power again to the tune of 71-55. The Power only have two losses for the season both at the hands of the Rebels. The absence of Jesse Bell from the Power’s line-up was evident and it played a big part in their downfall. Tyler Jefferson and Marcus Ch’ng did most of the scoring for the Rebels with 33 and 11 but all Rebels scored in the match. The Power tightened things up in the second half, but they were never able to close the gap that the Rebels had built up in the first half. Thomas Godwin led the Power with 19 and Shaquille Hohipa-Wilson hit 15.

Eagles v Razzle

Reece Turner & Ernest Holmes led the Eagles to a 85-41 win over the Razzle to keep in touch with the top four after nine rounds of play. The Razzle managed to keep the game fairly close at half time trailing by just 10 at 37-27. But after the break the Birds left the Green and Gold in their downdraft as they took off on a 48-14 run to finish them off. Turner ended up with a game high 27, Holmes had 22 and Dirk Steenbergen hit 18. David Carroll had a team high 13 for the Razzle.
