Round 10

League Men – Ansett v Uni Rebels (Thursday)

Robert Skinner from the Blues hit one of two opportunities from the charity stripe to give them a one point 74-73 lead with 51 seconds left. A flurry of fouls from both sides looking to gain an advantage gave the Rebels the chance they needed to win at the free throw line through Glenn Scott. Scott nailed his pair for a Rebel 75-74 lead with 37 seconds remaining. The Blues failed to convert after a timeout. Spencer Coleman led the Rebels with 28 followed by Morris with 25. Essington Cannons v Eagles Rd 11 (Thursday)

The Essington Cannons had just a bit too much firepower for the Eagles as they outgunned the Birds 109-96 to grab a share of second place on the ladder. The Cannons rumbled early with a 33-21 first quarter lead that blossomed out to 62-38 at half time. The Cannons hit 7 of their 16 treys in the first half to help move the score along whereas the Birds only hit 2. The teams totaled 25 for the match (4 short of tying the DBA record of 29). The Eagles pulled a few points back in a third quarter 26-19 run, but it was always going to be an uphill struggle after the first half. Tobiasz Hose led the Cannons with 24, Deba George (7 treys) & Travis Ellis hit 23, Fisto Bizima 20 (6 treys) and Deola D’Brown Folarin 14. Tracy Village Jets v Eagles

After losing on Thursday night the Eagles bounced back with a 110-72 win over the Tracy Village Jets to retain a part of second place on the ladder with two other teams. Palmerston Power v Razzle Storm

Palmerston Power v Uni Rebels

The Uni Rebels tightened their grip on first place with an 87-58 win over the upset minded Palmerston Power.
