Supporting Friel was Michelle Friel with 14 while Dominique Carbone led the Lightning with 16.

League Men – Lightning v HPP

A hard game to win and a tough one to lose. Lightning pulled one out of the bag in this one, beating the HPP 85-81 in a match up that produced too many lead changes to keep track of. From the get go it was on and neither team held back. The HPP outfit held a one point 69-68 lead with 6:09 left in the game and that is where they ran into a brick wall. Somebody put a lid on the basket. The Lightning scored 10 unanswered points to wrestle away the momentum and then they hung on for dear life as the HPP chipped away to get within 3pts after a Max Davies trey cut the Lightning lead to 84-81 with 17 seconds remaining. Dylan De Santis finished off the game for the Lightning with a free throw for the four point win. Austin Kisselev kicked up his ppg with a game high 37 points for the Lightning with help from De Santis (13), Craig Martin (11) & Cameron Bailey (10). Eagles v Uni Rebels

The Eagles staged a second half revival to overcome a 14 point half time deficit against the Uni Rebels to slip past them 78-72. The win keeps the Birds in first place undefeated with 5 straight wins. The third quarter proved pivotal with the Birds running off 27 points to just 9 for the Rebels. A barrage of treys was significant during the quarter with Lachlan Shipway and Dirk Steenbergen providing the spark needed to get back into the game. The Eagles led 54-48 going into the last quarter and managed to outscore the Rebels 26-24 to claim the points. Shipway & Steenbergen top scored for the Birds with 18 each and Anthony Golden & Jesse Williams-Hook had 16 apiece. Tim Morris hit a game high 26 for the Rebels with Jake Kirby (15) & Jake Eyles (11) in support.

That’s 6 minutes of time that the Storm didn’t score at all. Helping Bizima out were Tom Godwin (12), Jamie Thorne (11) & Aaron Simpson (10). The Storm’s Calcatera had support from Christopher Mahlstedt (14) & Nathan Radonich & Jay Jordan (13).

Davies, backing up after scoring 21 for HPP on Thursday night hit 21 for the Blues as they notched up win number four for the season. The Jets kept it close in the first half behind the inspired play from Jayden Adams who hit 11 of his team high 18 to give the Bombers a 23-22 half time lead. The Blues, however, picked up the pace in the third quarter during a 20-15 run to take a 42-38 lead into the fourth quarter. The Bombers put up a good fight, but couldn’t overcome the lead the Blues had built up. Mitchell O’Donoghue chipped in with 20 for the Blues with Freddy Webb adding 12. Adams was backed up by Jake Geer (11) & Jackson Tremlett (10).
