The U16 girls "RNS & Geo Tech" Cyclones travelled down to Brisbane for a week of highly anticipated fun and challenges for the State Championships hosted by Southern District Spartans.  Each and every game was winnable and we liked our chances of making division 2 out of 20 teams.  After 2 days of intense basketball we had 2 wins under our belt and had only lost to Mulgrave (far north QLD) by 10 points.  This team went on to win the division 2 gold medal so we were very pleased with the effort.  Our next 2 days saw some very close games and one huge blow out against Toowoomba after we found ourselves down to 6 players from injury related issues.  This saw us playing off for 7th or 8th in division 2 against Brisbane Silver on the final day and to the girls credit they struggled through their niggling injuries and tiredness and came away with a 21 point win.  One of the highlights for our team is knowing that we are the best team on the Sunshine Coast in our age group with both Uni and Maroochydore below us in division 3.  Well done to the girls not only for their basketball efforts, but their outstanding behaviour and camaraderie whilst we were away.  They are a great bunch of girls that represented themselves and Noosa beautifully!!!
