Game Specifications

 

1. Each team must provide two scoretable personnel

 

2. Team Managers to confirm team lists on Stadium Scoring prior to each game while Coaches are to sign the match report.

 

3. Match Balls – Basketball Queensland will be supplying Spalding TF500 as the official game ball (size 6 for girls, size 7 for boys).

 

4. Playing uniforms are to be numbered 4-15, 20-25, 30-35, 40- 45, 50-55 in accordance with the Official Basketball Rules.

 

 A Basketball Queensland logo must be worn in a

 

visible

 

position on playing tops; failure to have a Basketball Queensland logo on playing tops will incur a $200.00 fine.

 

 All team officials must wear a collared shirt or polo and closed in shoes. Any breach of this rule will incur a $200.00 fine.

 

  All Scoretable personnel must wear closed in shoes and it is the responsibility of the team to ensure this occurs.

 

 5. The first team listed on the draw will sit to left of the score bench (left side facing the court). Teams must have a minimum of two sets of uniforms and in the event of two teams having the same or similar coloured uniforms:

 

 •The first team listed on the score sheet (Team A) shall wear light-coloured uniforms.

 

 •The second team listed on the score sheet (Team B) shall wear dark-coloured uniforms.

 

•However, if the two teams involved agree, they may interchange the colours of the uniforms.

 

 

Game Timing Rules

Games will be 4 x 10 minute quarters.

Warm up shall be 3 mins, time between quarters shall be 1 min, and half time is set for 3 mins; but is subject to amendment if required.

Two time outs will be granted to each team during the first half (1st & 2nd periods) and three time outs during the second half (3rd & 4th periods)

There will be no drawn games. For games requiring over time there will a break of 1 minute with an overtime of 3 minutes. For each additional period there will be a 1 minute break. 1 time-out is allowed in each additional period with team fouls not resetting.

The 24 second shot clock will operate in the U18 State Championships and is compulsory in

ALL

games. All teams were required to nominate two scoretable personnel and at least one of these should be competent in using the shot clock.

For the Division 1 Grand Finals it is aimed to allow for 5 minutes warm up and 5 minutes half-time; however this may be reduced to 3 minutes at the discretion of the BQ Event Commissioner if games are not running on time.

 

Checking the Draw for Cross Overs

It is the Team Manager’s responsibility to ensure their team is at their team’s scheduled game time. Event staff will make every endeavour to contact teams through way of a text messaging system to inform them of their game times. The order of preference for draw queries is as follows.

1. Check on the results board at the stadium as to where you finished on the ladder.

2. Check the ladder on the BQ website or to see where you finished and then align this with the Official Draw

3. Check the Draws and Results section of the Basketball Queensland Website for updated Draws

4. Call BQ Competition Manager Chris Hort on 0403 244 314

5. Call the Host Association representatives (phone no. provided on page 1)

Team managers are strongly encouraged to check the draw right up until the start of the event for changes. It is the sole responsibility of the team manager to ensure their team is present for the correct time, venue and game.

 

State Championships Conditions of Entry

All participants and attendees at the 2015 State Championships are bound by the Basketball Queensland Conditions of Entry noted in the Event Program and on Team passes, the Zero Tolerance policy that has been implemented by Basketball Queensland for all junior representative competitions; and by any other Conditions of Entry as displayed by the venue.

Upon payment of entry or by showing a 2015 State Championships official pass the participant/attendee is agreeing to be bound by the Basketball Queensland Codes of Conduct and the Zero Tolerance Policy.

If at any time a person is found to be breaching a code of conduct, the Zero Tolerance Policy or any condition of entry they may be removed from the stadium by event staff and face further penalty under the Queensland Basketball Model Disciplinary Tribunals By-law, which will be enforced by the Event Technical Committee comprising of the Basketball Queensland Representative, Referee’s Commissioner and Host Association Representative.

Spectator Entry

As two separate associations are hosting the U18 State Championships, all spectators that pay to attend the Championships are only granted day access to that particular division’s venues

ONLY

. For example, a spectator paying to attend Division 2 games and wishes to then attend Division 1 games later that same day will be required to pay again.

 

Zero Tolerance Policy

As outlined in Section 6 of the State Championships Policy to ensure a safe and enjoyable playing environment for all players, officials and participants, Basketball QLD have implemented a Zero Tolerance Policy for inappropriate behaviour for Parents and Spectators in all junior representative competitions.

The Policy will ensure that:

1. There will be a zero tolerance shown towards any inappropriate or abusive behaviour from parents and spectators

2. Any parent/guardian and/or spectator who feels the necessity to:

 Persistently or wilfully question or challenge the rulings of the referees

 Berate or abuse game officials i.e. referees and scoretable personnel

 Berate or abuse team officials

 Berate or abuse players

 Berate or abuse other parents or spectators

 Berate or abuse any game day official such as a Court Controller, Referee Supervisor, Association Representative or Basketball Queensland Representative;

will be asked to leave the host venue immediately a member of the Event Technical Committee. No warnings need be given in the event of the above action becoming necessary.

Technical Foul for use of Foul Language or Derogatory Remarks directed at Officials by Players

Technical fouls for use of foul language or derogatory remarks directed towards officials, where a referee believes an ejection is not warranted, shall result in the player being substituted from the game and sitting five minutes of playing timeon the Team Bench, irrespective of score, number of players on the court or remaining time in the game.

 

When the Official calls the technical foul, he/she is also to look at the clock and quote the time remaining, so the scoretable officials can note it on the Match Report. E.g. 7.41 1st quarter, and the player can then re-enter the game at 2.41 or after (via substitution through the bench).

 

Team Officials Can and Can’t Do’s During a Game:

 

 The team bench personnel are the only persons permitted to sit on the team bench and remain within their team bench area.

 

 Either the coach or the assistant coach, but only one of them at any given time, is permitted to remain standing during the game. They may address the players verbally during the game provided they remain within their team bench area. Only during time-outs can the coaches can enter the playing area to address their team provided they are close to the team bench area.

 

 The manager should walk behind the team bench (where possible) when attending to player requirements.

 

 The coach or assistant coach may approach the score table to request a time-out

 

 The coach and the assistant coach may go to the scorer’s table during the game to obtain statistical information only when the ball becomes dead and the game clock is stopped.

 

 Only the coach should talk to the referees; and always in a courteous manner and under no circumstances should they enter the playing area to do this.

 

 The captain may talk to the referees during intervals of play to clarify rule interpretations. When the captain leaves the playing court the coach shall inform an official of the number of the player who will act as captain on the playing court.
