Honiara Community Basketball Challenged

The Honiara Community preliminary basketball challanged had a big impact to the development of sports. Fifteen (15) communities in and around Honiara had took part in the competition in the mens and womens category. It is a first of its kind under the Australian funded sport program, we seen alot of people from the sectors of communities in Honiara who had come out in full force and represent their communities in different teams, most of them have never seen them playing basketball before. It is a good sign for the development of basketball not only here in the capital but in and around the country. The competition was divided into three (3) zones 1. Eastern Zone, 2. Central zone, 3. Western Zone. The top two(2) teams from each zone will advance to the second stage and also the final of the competition on the 18th September. A total of 6 mens and 5 womens teams from 3 different zones who had advance from the 1st staged of competition will play on a round robin on the final stages of the competition for the Honiara Community Challange.

The Solomon Island Basketball Federation would like to sincerely thanks the Honiara Local Organizing Committee for financially support the program, and also the Honiara Community Basketball committee for a job well done in organizing the competition, and also to all the referees who are tiredly officiating all he games to a very successful ending.
