NBDO and AYAD to assist Renbell Province!

NBDO Golden Kiloko with AYAD Ryan Burns

National Basketball Development Officer (NBDO) Golden Kiloko and Australian Youth Ambassador for Development (AYAD) Ryan Burns will be travelling to Renbell province later this week to further develop basketball there. The latest construction of a basketball court in Bellona has provided an excellent opportunity for all people within the province to become involved in the game. The timing of this trip ccould not be better with the Avaiki Provincial Games just over a month away, allowing suffiucient time for everyone involved to start preparing for what is going to be a great festival of sport in Bellona from 7th December 2006.

The duo plan to depart for Bellona on Friday 3rd November and return on Friday 10th November. Throughout their one week visit Golden and Ryan will be undertaking refereeing, scoreing and coaching courses as well as taking time to teach the finer aspects of playing the game. Anyone in Bellona who has an interest in basketball is encouraged to attend to help build a strong a association for the province.

Earlier this week NBDO Golden Kiloko said that "basketball really is booming at the moment, and it's great to be able to include people in the provinces too. The recent success of the U/20 competition and the HBA SUPER 4 KNOCKOUT Competition has been huge in Honiara, and now its time to get all Solomon Islanders living in the provinces involved."
