Alafua has long been known as a breeding ground for some of Samoa's best basketballers. The teams from this village are always amongst the best in any Samoa competition and resultantly they currently hold the shield in the current Samoan Basketball League in both the mens and junior mens sections. But those running the show at Alafua don't want to just sit back and relax knowing that their teams are some of the best on the island. They have proactively sought to teach the youth in the area the basics of the game in a series of weekly clinics. The number of kids has slowly increased and those running the program are hopeful of starting a competition for the younger age groups, with the idea of using it as a feeder into the senior teams. It's good to see a basketball club that is so focussed on not only the present but also what's going to happen in the future. Keep up the good work.
