2008 NBL Pre-Season Tournament
ROOKIE team Helix became an instant favorite in the upcoming 2008 season of the National Basketball League (NBL), which is set to start on Monday Jan. 14 at the Palau National Gymnasium.
This is after Helix won the pre-season tournament dubbed as Presidential Shootout by beating veteran team Meda, 85-62 on Friday Jan. 4.
Surangel and Sons, the 2007 Government Business League (GBL) Business Division champion and Season Finals third placer, settled for third place was third place while reigning NBL champion Peched finished fourth.
The tournament was sponsored by President Tommy Remengesau Jr.
Meanwhile, the opening day of the 2008 NBL season was postponed from Jan. 7 to Jan. 14.
The opening ceremony will start at 5:30 p.m. but before that, there will be coaches meeting at 11:30 p.m. on the same day. The deadline of submission of team roster will be at 4:30 p.m., also on the same day.
