Islanders take solo lead in 2011 Shell IP&E NBL

Trailing 21-15 after the first quarter, the Islanders rose up to the challenge as they ignited a 21-10 run in the second canto to grab the lead at the end of the first half, 36-31. From there, the Islanders never looked back as they managed to halt any High Tide comeback to score the win.

 Kent Moore led the Islanders with 18 points as teammate Roger Santos chipped in 17 as they sport a 3-0 win-loss record while Raul Osias topscored for the High Tide with 12 baskets as they now take a 2-1 tally in the team standings.

 In other games, Peched defeated Kabong, 92-72; 4x4 Wheelers won over Mercury Optimax, 85-80; and Breakers dumped Airwaves, 92-45.

 Games will resume tonight with High Tide versus Airwaves at 6 p.m. followed by the 4x4 Wheelers-Islanders match at 9 p.m. Games tomorrow will feature Mercury Optimax against Kabong at 6 p.m. as Meda will play the Breakers at 7:30 p.m. while the Rivals will face Peched at 9 p.m.

 May 26 matches will have Mercury Optimax taking on the Breakers at 6 p.m. while the Islanders will battle the Airwaves at 9 p.m.

 The tournament, which is supervised by the Palau Basketball Federation (PBF), is a tobacco, alcohol and drug free program. Any violators will be banned from participating.
