Collingwood finished the season above .500 for the first time in three seasons and that earned the VFL Magpies a final’s appearance where they tested Port Melbourne before succumbing by four goals.
Collingwood lost a best and fairest winner in Tom Sundberg who has moved to Sydney for work, but picked up a best and fairest and Liston Trophy runner-up in Tom Couch. Couch, de-listed from Melbourne, is not the only quality addition to the list with Orval, Howe and Suckling all good players.
Collingwood’s VFL list appears as strong as it ever has since they ended their alliance with Williamstown a number of years ago.
The VFL Magpies should again win more games than they lose and that should be enough for them to again play finals.
