Football returns to Punt Road Oval this Sunday.
While the Richmond fans have had to wait an extra fortnight for their first home game of the season, ME Bank Centre is now ready to host Peter Jackson VFL action as they welcome Geelong as its first opponent to the ground.
The early 11:30am start is one of seven ‘curtain raiser’ games fixtured for Richmond, as its AFL side takes on Geelong Sunday afternoon, 3:20pm, at the MCG.
“It is great for our footy club, the supporters, the staff, everyone that is involved, is really buying into our VFL program this year,” Richmond VFL coach Tim Clarke said earlier in the season.
“Partly because we are playing at Punt Road and under the banner of Richmond, and playing with guys that are playing for the Richmond football club.
“That has provided a lot of energy, but we need to get the runs on the board for the support to continue to come.”
Richmond has just the one win so far this season, against its former aligned partner Coburg.
