North Ballarat's ties with North Melbourne is set to strengthen, after the AFL club visited the Ballarat region today.
North Melbourne Chief Executive Eugene Arocca met Ballarat Mayor Cr. Judy Verlin, CEO Anthony Schinck and North Ballarat Football Club CEO Mark Patterson to discuss the establishment of a long-term regional partnership.
A memorandum of understanding will be signed to solidify the relationship which has already seen North Melbourne increase its presence in the city through clinics, community visits and its strong affiliation with VFL premiers North Ballarat.
Arocca said there was great potential in the region for the Kangaroos.
"We have not wavered in our determination to remain a Victorian-based club and we have received great support from Ballarat and the surrounding region," Arocca said.
"There are some obvious synergies between the North Melbourne Football Club and the City of Ballarat. The region has played a key role in the history and culture of this state and we want to be a part of its future.
"This partnership will formalise our commitment to what we see as a growing market."
City of Ballarat CEO Anthony Schinck said he was delighted with the club's commitment to the city.
"I look forward to developing the memorandum of understanding and the potential this has to bring many benefits to the region over the next few years and into the long term," Schinck said.
