The first intake for the 2012 AFL Victoria VFL Academy has been announced today. The VFL Academy has been established to enhance the talent pool existing in the Peter Jackson VFL competition. The Academy will provide a platform to observe and monitor a select group of players exposed to elements of the AFL Victoria Academy structure, philosophy and resources.
AFL Victoria’s VFL Academy Coach/Mentor Nathan Bibby has been pleased with the feedback provided by all parties involved, with the final selection process having been conducted by Bibby, AFL Victoria High Performance Managers and AFL Victoria's Operations Manager.
“The inaugural intake has been formed in consultation with AFL Clubs and from feedback from VFL clubs.
“We would like to thank all stakeholders involved for their support throughout the early stages of the VFL Academy and I look forward to working with all of the initial intake, as well as their clubs, throughout the season,” Bibby said.
The first intake for the VFL Academy boasts an array of up and coming talent from the Peter Jackson VFL, with players to receive an Individual Development Program as well as individual coaching/mentoring, Medical screening, Nutritional education, GPS tracking, Welfare and personal development services and access to Combine testing.
