Ex-Geelong skipper James Byrne has stamped another stop on his Australian Football passport.
After stints in Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia, Byrne has lobbed at the top end to link with Waratah in the Northern Territory Football League.
The Warriors latest recruit dazzled in his first hitout for the club last Saturday, helping Waratah to a 131-point mauling of the Tiwi Bombers.
Byrne, wearing jumper number 31, was named second best afield in the match at Gardens Oval. Teammate and 2004 VFL Team of the Year half-back Sam Cranage snagged five goals for the winners.
Another ex-VFL player to have a run up north is 2008 North Ballarat Roosters reserves Best and Fairest Jake Dignan. Dignan has played five games in the midfield for the Palmerston Magpies.
