THE Casey Scorpions have been dealt a severe blow on the eve of the final series with the news young gun Jesse Hogan will miss the remainder of the season.
Scans today have confirmed Hogan has bone bruising to his knee after landing awkwardly in the Scorpions' crushing win over Bendigo Gold on Saturday.
The Scorpions sit third on the Bailey Ladders’ ladder with one round of the home-and-season to play but will have to do without their young spearhead in their finals’ campaign.
Hogan has booted 39 goals for Casey this season after being picked up Melbourne in the GWS–mini-draft as a 17-year-old.
With a mature body and clean hands, he was expected to provide a key target in the Scorpions premiership quest.
"Jesse's scans revealed some bone bruising, he will continue to be assessed symptomatically [and] it is expected that Jesse will require four to six weeks to rehab from this injury," Melbourne acting general manager of football Josh Mahoney told melbournefc.com.au.
The Scorpions face Box Hill Hawks this weekend with the match likely to determine which side finishes in second position.
