The Werribee Tigers have bolstered their forward stocks leading into the 2013 season with the recruiting of former Brisbane Lion Scott Clouston.
Clouston played two AFL games with the Lions before spending the last three seasons playing in the NEAFL with the Redland Bombers.
Last year Clouston won Redlands’ Best and Fairest, and was awarded the Syd Guildford Trophy - an award voted by the club coaches and league officials as the best player in the NEAFL Northern Conference. He was also named centre half forward in the NEAFL Northern Conference Team of the Year.
Tigers coach Scott West is happy to snare the big forward.
“He is coming off a club Best and Fairest year and Team of the Year selection and is exactly the type of player we have been looking to add to our forward structure.
“He was very popular in Brisbane with his team mates and supporters, so he is a good fit at Avalon Airport Oval.
“He has recently moved locally for work and we are really happy he is joining us.”
Clouston is looking forward to getting into the Peter Jackson VFL action this year.
“I am really looking forward to meeting my new teammates and the opportunity to earn their respect prior to the commencement of the VFL season this year.
“I have appreciated the support and assistance Werribee FC has provided to me and the professionalism they have shown.
“The club had a great year in 2012 and I hope that I can contribute to the team’s success in 2013.”
Werribee kick off its preseason practice matches this Friday afternoon against western rival Williamstown, and will start the home and away season versus Port Melbourne on March 30.
