Williamstown and Geelong will for the second year running take their game to the coast, heading to Torquay on East Sunday at 2pm. Last year 4,300 witnessed the Williamstown/Geelong clash, match at Spring Creek Reserve, with Williamstown General Manager Brendan Curry noting that last year’s match generated great atmosphere, tapping into the festive period at the Bellarine Peninsula over Easter. “The Surf Shire Council tells us that there are 40,000 visitors who come to the area over Easter. There’s a captive audience so we think the crowd can even grow more this year,” Curry said. New recruit James Wall is set to play his 100th VFL game, Geelong’s Ben Raidme will play game 50, and goal umpire Peter Balding is set to officiate in his 150th game

Collingwood will play host to the Peter Jackson VFL match of the round for ABC TV this Saturday when they take on the North Ballarat Roosters at Victoria Park. Both clubs are looking for their first win of the year, to open their account early in the season. The Magpies were last week strengthened in their VFL line up with experienced AFL players such as Chris Tarrant, Sharrod Wellingham and Dayne Beams. Kris Ugle was their main target to goal kicking four goals, but they will need to find other avenues to defeat the Roosters this weekend. Round 5 last year saw a great contest between the two clubs at Victoria Park, with Collingwood finishing victors by 1 solitary point, their first ever win against the three time VFL premiers.

The newly nicknamed Bendigo Gold head home for the first time this season to Queen Elizabeth Oval to face reigning premiers Port Melbourne on Saturday. The Gold will be looking to try and stop Port’s rampaging run, which currently stands at 23 straight victories.

The Easter weekend provides options for everyone, with the Werribee Tigers vs Box Hill Hawks game being played under lights on East Saturday at Avalon Airport Oval in Werribee. The game kicks off at 7pm, with former Box Hill hawks captain Sam Gibson to line up against his old team for the first time since being drafted to North Melbourne at the end of 2011, and now lining up for their aligned side Werribee in the VFL.

Casey Scorpions and Frankston go head to head on Sunday at Casey, and have had starkly different starts to their seasons. Whilst Frankston sits on the bottom of the ladder yet to record their first win of the season, Casey under new coach Brett Lovett sits in third spot with two wins from two matches.

In the final game of the round, ladder leaders Sandringham host Coburg Tigers. Coming off their first win away from home against North Ballarat last weekend since 2006, the Zebras have had a strong start to the season, claiming the scalps of the Roosters and the Box Hill Hawks. Coburg are 1-1 from their two starts, and will be looking to get on top early against the Zebras after trailing at half time in their first two games of the season.
