Collingwood has overcome a nine-point half-time deficit to defeat Geelong by 25 points at Visy Park today.
Collingwood dominated possession and finally saw the fruits of its labour in the second half to runaway 13 21 (99) to 11 8 (74) winners.
The Magpies were lead by Chris Bryan and Anthony Rocca's three goals, while Chris Dawes slammed home three last quarter majors to ice the result.
Best for Collingwood was young midfield pair Ryan Cook and rookie Jarryd Blair. Blair was particularly lively in the second half and teamed-up with the likes of his ex-Gippsland Power teammate Tristan Francis to give the Magpies plenty of run and drive to help bust the game open.
Ryan Gamble starred for the Cats with four majors and new captain James Podsiadly chipped-in with three goals.
In the early stages, it appeared Rocca would be the difference in the game as he kicked two goals in the first quarter. But VFL first gamer Ben Johnson put the clamps on the Magpies speahead who only managed one other major.
Sloppy ball use and innaccuracy in front of goal saw the Magpies nine points in arrears at the major despite dominating much of the possession.
But with more and more ball entering the Collingwood forward arc, it was only a matter of time before the levee broke and the Mapies run away with the game.
