Ford Australia, together with AFL Victoria, is extending its support for the VFL Competition by launching an Aussie Football first.
Ford’s VFL Coach, available free from today, is a sports management game based on the VFL Competition and is designed for online sports enthusiasts.
“VFL Coach is the first free online game of its kind for our beloved Australian Rules Football,” said Ford Australia Sponsorship Manager, Nick Cummins.
"We know a lot of VFL fans become ‘backseat coaches’ at games when real life coaches make frustrating decisions and interchanges. Now fans can coach their own VFL team online and enjoy the pressure of managing a football side"
Once downloaded, the game will include over 550 VFL players, each rated in 15 different skill categories as well as a number of additional features, including team selection, playing styles, specific instructions for individual players as well as draft selections, and list management.
A 2D simulation of each match will play out on computer screens. Online coaches will have the ability to make interchanges and match ups during the game simulation as well as receive player injury notices, full post match statistics, view the JJ Liston vote count. Coaches can even participate in the pre-season draft and trade week in a bid to recruit new players.
“The most important factor for the game was to create an online experience that accurately simulated a football competition” says Cummins.
“It has been designed to appeal to those who currently enjoy playing online sports management games and participants won’t be disappointed with Ford's VFL Coach.”
VFL Coach is fully endorsed by the Victorian Football League and is set for release today. For more information, prospective online coaches can log onto www.theoval.com.au
