Werribee skipper James Podsiadly claimed yet another individual accolade, winning the Bruce Montgomery Trophy as the Tigers best and fairest player for season 2008.
Podsiadly, who won the coveted Liston Trophy three weeks ago, polled 191 votes ahead of North Melbourne-listed defender Scott Thompson (121) and speedy midfielder Dominic Gleeson (112).
Reflecting on the year, the 28 year-old said that while winning the Liston was a highlight being awarded with something judged by coaches was very special.
“The Liston means a lot to me because it’s the best in the league, but this one means just as much if not more. It’s judged by your coaches,” he said.
Despite the disappointment of missing out on a Grand Final sport by just two goals, Podsiadly was able to draw some positives from a season where he learnt a lot about himself.
“From a development year, I learnt the most from myself which is something (that) I’ll take out,” he said.
“From a personal level, my achievements will say that it was my best year.”
