We take a quick look at round 2 of the Peter Jackson VFL:
- AFL stand alone VFL sides Geelong and Collingwood both open their 2012 season at Simonds Stadium Saturday, with Cat Ben Raidme set to play his 50th game. Collingwood’s side will be strengthened with the experienced AFL inclusions of Sharrod Wellingham, Dayne Beams, Cameron Wood and Ben Johnson, whilst former Werribee captain Dom Gleeson will play his first game in Cats colours.
- Port Melbourne will unfurl their 2011 premiership flag on Satruday versus Werribee Tigers in the ABC TV game. Port will be bolstered this weekend by the return of Grand Final best on ground Toby Pinwill, and well as premiership player Hug Sandilands. Werribee will be hoping to celebrate a win for new recruit Ben Ross who will play his 50th VFL game. The match will also see another Port premiership player take to the field in Malcolm Lynch, who will be lining up for Werribee after being rookied by Werribee’s aligned AFL club North Melbourne last December.
- Round one winners Coburg Tigers and Casey Scorpions will go head to head in round 2, with the Scorpions hoping to defeat Coburg for the first time since round 5, 2010
- Frankston will host the newly nicknamed Bendigo Gold in round 2, after Bendigo had a bye in round 1. Dolphin Luke Clarke will play his 50th game.
