ROBERT Hyde is the new coach of the Northern Bullants.
The three-time TAC Cup premiership master won the position vacated by Darren Harris with an impressive final-round interview to edge former Carlton star and Western Bulldogs assistant Peter Dean.
Blues coach Brett Ratten, along with Harris, ran the selection process, which will be ratified by the Bullants.
Hyde steered Calder to five grand finals for three flags before taking the reins at Vic Country in the under-18 national championship.
The doyen of junior coaching steered Vic Country to last year's premiership and was elected for his remarkable ability to nurture young talent.
"He's got a very good record and he knows a lot about winning," Bullants general manager Garry O'Sullivan said.
"(President) Stevie Papal knows him really, really well and is a massive, massive wrap for him."
Hyde will meet Bullants officials next week before starting official duties in mid-November.
