Ex-Carlton player Darren Hulme will be a playing assistant coach with Bendigo this year.
The 31-year-old will significantly boost the Bombers midfield stocks adding vital leadership and experience. Hulme played 110 AFL games before he was delisted by the Blues in 2004.
Hulme initially joined as Bendigo's Windy Hill satellite coach but has since regained the urge to chase the leather.
Dashing SANFL product Charles Slattery has headed east to test himself in the VFL. Slattery is the brother of Essendon young star Henry.
The pair headline a major off-season recruiting drive by the Bombers, sure to please coach Adrian Hickmott.
Joining Hulme and Slattery at the Bombers is:
- Seymour veteran Paul Scanlon, who gathered more than 40 touches in the Goulburn Valley League Grand Final against Rochester.
- Maryborough Football Club captain Joel Malone, a hard-running midfielder in the Bendigo Football League.
- Sea Lake's Simon Weekly, who joins Bendigo after a 100-goal haul in 2008.
- Bustling key forward Stacey Fiske.
- Maryborough's aggressive 18-year-old key forward Darcy Richards.
The Bombers will finalise its list in the coming days and listed players will participate in a three-day training camp from February 6. This will include an internal trial. To find out more about the Bombers pre-season activities, visit the clubs's new website www.bendigobombers.com
