Round 9 in the Peter Jackson VFL has been completed, with Geelong victorious over Northern Blues today.
We review the only Sunday clash.
GEELONG d NORTHERN BLUES: Geelong has moved to second on the Peter Jackson VFL ladder after a 58-point win over Northern Blues. The Cats set up their win by kicking seven unanswered goals to open the clash, with the Blues unable to register their first major until the 19 minute mark of the second term. At half time the Cats led by 62 points. Despite a more competitive second half by the Blues, outscoring Geelong by four points, the damage had already been done in the first half, and they were unable to get the margin under nine goals at any stage. The win was even more pleasing for coach Matthew Knights with 17 VFL listed players taking to the field for Geelong, leaving just 6 AFL Cats.
Josh Caddy, Jordan Schroder, Jed Bews and Jaxson Barham were the best for Geelong, with Schroder, Barham and Caddy the multiple goal kickers (2 each) from their sides 12 individual goal scorers.
Sam Rowe led the goal kicking for the Blues with two in the second half after moved from defense, and was their only multiple goal kicker for the afternoon. Tom Bell (25 disposals), Josh Bootsma, Nick Duigan (20) and Rowe were among their best. The Northern Blues have dropped to eighth spot after losing four of the last five matches.
