THE 2013 Peter Jackson VFL Team of the Year has been announced at the J.J. Liston Trophy awards night
Minor premier Geelong was one of three teams to have four players selected, joining Port Melbourne and Frankston at the top of the list.
The Dolphins were well represented despite finishing out of finals contention, highlighted by Michael Lourey’s selection at full forward ahead of ‘Frost’ Miller medalist Dean Galea.
The Werribee Tigers had three players included in the side, with the trio all listed on an extended interchange bench, including rising key-position talent Ben Brown.
The North Ballarat Roosters and Box Hill Hawks both had two players chosen, while no one from Essendon, Sandringham and Coburg could force their way in to the team.

Williamstown skipper Ben Jolley and Port Melbourne pair Sam Pleming and John Baird are no strangers to the Team of the Year, having all won a berth for the fourth time.
Pleming (centre half back) and Jolley (half back) have been selected for the fourth consecutive season, while Baird was in the 2007, 08 and 12 sides.
Teammate Chris Cain has also been selected for the third-straight year after another stellar season for the Borough.
North Ballarat Roosters hard-nut Steve Clifton is now also a three-time Team of the Year member, capping a fantastic return to the VFL after two years with the Greater Western Sydney Giants.
At the other end of the scale are a number of first timers who have enjoyed breakout seasons in 2013.
Kane Lambert (Northern Blues) on a wing, Matt Sully (Geelong) in a back pocket and Sam Lloyd (Frankston) in a forward pocket have been three of the competition’s young brigade to make 2013 their own.
Other notable inclusions are Evan Panozza at full back and Troy Selwood (rover), both of whom were members of the 2012 Team of the Year.
Bendigo Gold’s sole representative, Daniel Toman, also deserves a mention after standout season in a team that didn’t win a game.
