Day 2 of the NAB AFL Draft Combine saw the two VFL representatives perform well in the sprint and agility testing.
Both Leigh Osborne (Frankston) and Dean Towers (North Ballarat) featured in the top 5 in the 20 metre sprint and the repeat sprint test.
Osborne recorded the third best time in the 20 metre sprint at 2.86, just .05 seconds behind the best sprint of the day recorded by Calder Cannons Adam Saad. Towers was a further .03 seconds behind, recording a sprint of 2.89. The overall Combine record for the 20m sprint was set in 2010 by now Gold Coast player Joel Wilkinson with a time of 2.75 seconds.
In the repeat sprint Towers recorded the third best time of 24.48 seconds, just .57 seconds behind Northern Knights Matthew Haynes. Osborne had the fourth best time with 24.48 seconds. The best repeat sprint time recorded in recent years was by Chris Kangars in 2007 with a time of 23.59.
Day 3 of the Combine with see players participating in kicking and handball testing, and also take part in the shuttle run.
