AFL Victoria is pleased to announce Dairy Australia as the official partner of the 2012 Peter Jackson VFL Finals Series. The VFL finals – which kick off on Saturday September 1 – will be ‘Powered by Milk’, with Dairy Australia expanding their current partnership which supports the Victorian AFL U18 State Academies.
AFL Victoria General Manager Grant Williams has welcomed the announcement of Dairy Australia further developing their current support of Victorian football.
“Dairy Australia is a new partner in 2012, so it is very pleasing to see they have been prepared to increase their commitment to AFL Victoria in the first year.
“The competition will benefit from having strong off field support from the likes of Dairy Australia, Peter Jackson Melbourne and Ford, enabling us to stage a successful finals series.
“The partnership will help educate the clubs and their players how milk can play an integral part in their on field success, by helping them get the most out of their pre and post game routines.”
Having tasted success with AFL Victoria’s Metro team in the NAB AFL U18 Championships with their 'Powered by Milk' logo featured on the back of the Metro and Country teams guernsey, Dairy Australia saw the VFL finals as a perfect chance to increase their support of Victoria’s talent pathway.
Dairy Australia dietitian Glenys Zucco said the AFL Victoria’s programs and competitions epitomise everything that is great about Australian sport showcasing teamwork, discipline, the desire to win and a commitment to excellence,
“The VFL finals feature some of the state’s finest footballers and the right nutrition can help these athletes perform at their best,” said Ms Zucco.
“A growing body of scientific research has identified milk as an effective exercise recovery drink.
“Flavoured milk contains an ideal balance of fluid, protein carbohydrate and electrolytes to help refuel and repair muscles and replenish what is lost in sweat.”
