AFL Victoria has sanctioned the Williamstown Football Club for breaching the competition Salary Cap during the 2013 Peter Jackson VFL season.
The breach was found as part of AFL Victoria’s annual VFL club audit. The subsequent investigation concluded that the practices of Williamstown Football Club during 2013 had not complied with or observed the letter, spirit and intention of the Salary Cap rules.
“The Salary Cap rules are an integral and necessary part of the VFL competition and need to be adhered to by all clubs,” AFL Victoria General Manager Grant Williams said.
AFL Victoria acknowledges and appreciates that the Williamstown Football Club and its staff cooperated fully during the investigation into the breach.
In addition to an appropriate fine, AFL Victoria has also placed additional obligations and requirements on the Williamstown Football Club for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
