Casey storm to top
Six goals to rising star Jesse Hogan and a superior midfield depth has fired Casey Scorpions to a 28-point victory over the Northern Blues.
Wearing the Springvale Football Club jumper, the Scorpions led for all but five minutes of the match to salute 13.14 (92) to 9.10 (64).
Hogan pulled down 10 marks on his way to another bag of goals that takes his season tally to 30. While ineligible to playfor the Demons in the AFL this season, the 18-year-old proved once again why he’s rated so highly.
Hogan bagged the first two goals of the game, before another brace in the third term helped his side awaken from a mid-game slumber.
Ball magnets James Magner and Tom Couch collected 27 disposals each, but they were just two of many midfielders to shine for the Scorpions.
Josh Tynan (25) Mitch Gent (23) and James Strauss (24) all played their part, as did Cameron Pederson who took eight marks in a dominant display at centre half back.
The Blues were far from disgraced and had winners with Nick Graham (25 possessions) Tom Bell (23) and Andrew Carrazzo (21), who played only the first half in his return from injury.
Tom Wilson and Robert Warnock each booted two goals, with the Carlton ruckman’s double in the third term the only time the Blues held sway.
The win lifts the Scorpions to the top of the Bailey Ladders’ ladder, four points clear of Geelong and Box Hill who play tomorrow.

Anthony’s influence diminished only slightly in the second half as the midfielder finished with two goals in a best on ground display.
The Delaney brothers, Cameron and Luke, and Oliver Tate were impressive in defence, while on-ballers Myles Sewell and Steve Clifton played their part to ensure their long-time mentor celebrated his milestone match in the best possible way.
Ahmed Saad bagged five goals for the Zebras and was instrumental in helping his fight back from a 25-point deficit at the last change.

Tigers run over Essendon
The Werribee Tigers have stormed back from 43 points down mid-way through the second quarter to topple Essendon by 29 points.

With the last three goals of the half, the Tigers entered the main break with hope and emerged from it invincible.
Eleven goals to three in the second half turned the game on its head and ensured the Tigers cemented their spot in the top eight. Young key forward Ben Brown booted three goals, while Daniel Currie was inspirational in the ruck.
Lachlan Dalgleish was the Bombers’ best, while Travis Colyer continually broke the lines to put his case forward for a senior recall.
