Willie Wheeler has snagged the Best and Fairest Award at the Coburg Football Club for Season 2012.
The talented midfielder fought off Leigh Masters and Andrew Browne who tied for second place and Daniel Venditti who followed soon after.
This will be Wheeler’s last award with the Tigers after recently announcing his move to competitors Williamtown. The talented midfielder will not be making the move alone, with backman Masters transferring at the same time.
Both players were members of AFL Victoria’s inaugural VFL Academy, which provided participants with an insight into what is required at the next level of the game.
Despite the loss of these players, Coburg has a lot to look forward to after their Development League team finished season 2012 as Premiers. The Tigers also saw forward Rowan Hore named their Development side Best & Fairest player in their premiership year.
