The Peter Jackson VFL Preliminary Final between Port Melbourne and the Northern Bullants was the number 1 rating program in Melbourne on Saturday afternoon.
With plenty of talk in the media recently regarding whether the ABC VFL broadcasts will continue past the current contract which ends this season, Melbourne football followers proved on the weekend that Saturday afternoon’s are traditionally VFL viewing time.
In the final quarter of the game – when as little at 1 point separated Port Melbourne and the Northern Bullants - the ratings peaked at 96,000, which is a season high for the VFL coverage.
Good crowds attended TEAC Oval both on Saturday and Sunday, and it is great to see so many tune into the VFL broadcast at home as well.
The ABC will broadcast this Sunday’s Peter Jackson VFL Grand Final between Port Melbourne and Williamstown from 2pm.
