Bendigo Bombers coach Adrian Hickmott has his sights set on bringing what eluded him as a player to Queen Elizabeth Oval - premiership success.
Discussing the Bombers goals under his reign in the club's new magazine "Flight Path", Hickmott said he wanted the club's young players to learn from his experiences as a player and a coach.
Hickmott missed the ultimate prize as a player - he played 184 AFL matches including 18 finals and three grand finals.
"That's a good record of appearances but I didn't become a premiership player, which is the ultimate goal for everyone who ever ran out onto a footy ground," Hickmott said.
"I want to give the Bendigo Bombers' players that particular experience, that career acheivement," the second-year coach said.
"But, I have to admit, being a premiership coach with this club would be pretty special, too."
Hickmott, who combines the Bendigo coaching role with Essendon Football Club player development duties, added he had learnt much from his his first VFL campaign last year, which saw Bendigo notch five wins to finish 13th.
"I'm much more comfortable with the demands of my overall role," Hickmott reflected.
"The workload is a large one but my time management skills have improved considerably and with a strong support team at either end, I'm confident the Bendigo Bombers are genuinely moving forward and folloing a well-organised flight path."
