For the second time in three years, the Roosters have signed star ruckman Tristan Cartledge.
Cartledge, originally from the North Ballarat Rebels, was drafted in 2002 by Essendon and went on to play seven games with the Bombers before being delisted at the end of 2006. He then joined the Roosters for season 2007, where he had a terrific year including Victorian representation against Western Australia.
Cartledge was AFL rookie-listed by Richmond at the end of 2007, was elevated to Richmond’s senior list late in the season and played a two more AFL games. He again represented Victoria in 2008 whilst playing with Richmond’s affiliate in the VFL, Coburg.
Cartledge brings added experience to the Roosters line-up having played a combined total of 100 senior VFL games with the Bendigo Bombers (2002 – 2006), North Ballarat (2007) and Coburg (2008). He also adds coverage to the 2008 VFL Premiers, with the ability to play in the ruck and also to be a forward target.
“We are delighted to have Tristan back at the club. We see him as a returning local player and one who is highly regarded by our club and the playing group”, coach Gerard FitzGerald said.
Cartledge will resume his study at the University of Ballarat, where he commenced a Bachelor of Sports Management in 2007.
The Roosters playing listed will again be bolstered by its partial alignment with the North Melbourne Football Club. Changes from the 2008 list include:

· Blake Grima - Delisted by North Melbourne, now playing with Port Melbourne - VFL
· Eddie Sansbury - Delisted by North Melbourne, now playing with Central Districts - SANFL
· Robbie Tarrant – Moved across to the Werribee list (North Melbourne’s other VFL partner) to better enhance his development opportunities
Gained:
· Liam Anthony - Draft selection 43 - A 21 year old originally from East Fremantle. Anthony is a medium midfielder who uses the ball well, with the added ability of being able to play as a crumbing forward.
· Warren Benjamin - Draft selection 71 - Benjamin is an 18 year old indigenous player who played with Claremont in the WAFL, he is however, originally from Broome. A medium sized onballer with pace, recording the second quickest 20m sprint at the draft screening. He is aggressive at the contest, strong overhead and has a great leap.
· Marcus White - Rookie Draft selection 9 - White, a TAC Cup graduate was the 2008 captain of the Calder Cannons is a midfielder who can play forward or back. Marcus missed part of the 2008 season when he broke his leg.
