Experience leads Box Hill into 2012
The Box Hill Hawks have announced new Captain’s for Season 2012. Beau Muston and new recruit Daniel Pratt have been selected to lead a new look Box Hill to what they hope is a top four finish this Season.
This experienced pair has an impressive AFL track record with Pratt playing 119 games for North Melbourne and Brisbane over 11 years. Muston represented Hawthorn from 2006 – 2010; featuring quite often in the Box Hill Hawks side.
Pratt’s knowledge of elite football and Muston’s in-depth understanding of the relationship between Box Hill and Hawthorn should result in a recipe for successful.
Development Team to provide depth for Box Hill Hawks
The Box Hill Hawks have for many years referred to their Reserves side as a Development Team. This term has been adopted by AFL Victoria in Season 2012 of the Peter Jackson VFL, with the reserves competition to be referred to as the AFL Victoria Development League.
Box Hill’s Development Team has done the Club proud in recent years by winning three consecutive Premierships. 2011 saw the team defeat the Coburg Tigers by 65 points in the Grand Final.
The Development Team’s consistency over the past few years should provide great depth for the Box Hill Hawks and assist them in embracing their new recruits into the Club.
Coach’s Comment:
We have had a good preparation leading into the season and are hopeful to build on our 2011 result. We had over 100 player’s trial for a position in our squad and believe we have some good depth going into the season. We have had a large turnover of players within our squad. While we have lost some experience and quality VFL players we have also added some good recruits to the squad that we feel will help our young list continue to develop. We are looking forward to the commencement of the season and testing ourselves in a competition that should be very even this year
