The ANZAC Day Clash between old rivals the Northern Bullants and Port Melbourne has been reignited after five years absence.
The two clubs have been bitter rivals over the last two decades and the return of the ANZAC Day match at NAB Oval is fitting of the rivalry.
âAnyone who used to see the old VFA matches between the Bullants and Port Melbourne here at Cramer street will tell you how strong the rivalry was. There just seemed to be a feeling, much the same as a Collingwood v Essendon match and thatâs why we thought it was imperative that we recommence this fixture,â Northern Bullants General Manager Garry OâSullivan said.
Getting behind the match will be Preston Travel Services, who will be presenting more than $500 in travel vouchers to one lucky spectator on the day.
âLook, itâs exciting to be able to get local business behind the club and be able to build the atmosphere for matches at Preston. The winning spectator will be drawn at half-time of the senior match and they will win a $100 travel voucher for each Bullants goal kicked in the second half.â OâSullivan said.
In light of the occasion, the Bullants will be donating a percentage of the gate takings to the local Darebin RSL. The club will also provide free entry for Darebin RSL members upon presentation of their membership card.
The Bullants would like to remind all supporters that public transport is a better way to the footy and as part of the partnership with Metlink, you can receive free admission by presenting your Metcard. To find out how to get to NAB Oval by train, tram or bus please visit metlinkmelbourne.com.au
