Rising star Robin Nahas is hopeful of gaining an AFL berth next season.
Port Melbourne's Nahas placed his name firmly in AFL recruiters minds with a blistering 2008 VFL campaign.
Nahas netted 50 goals and took home a bag full of awards including the Fothergill-Round Medal as the comeptition's brightest prospect and the Frank Johnson Medal, for his four goals for Victoria against the SANFL.
But the Borough's gruelling campaign, which ended in a grand final loss to North Ballarat, forced Nahas out of a recent state screening for the draft.
"I was there but because we had the grand final the weekend before I was a bit injured actually coming into it so the testing wasn't going to be a true indication, so I sat it out," Nahas told SEN's All Night Appetite.
But the gifted Borough forward remained hopeful of AFL selection.
"I wouldn't have a clue (if there was any interest). (Player Manager) Tom Petroro is helping me out and looking after it. Personally, no one has spoken to me," Nahas said.
"I just hope things go my way. If not, I really like to play down at Port Melbourne and the VFL is a great competition.
"I'd just be happy to play football."
Nahas said he was pleased with his big year but paid tribute to the work of his team mates.
"Without the boys up the ground, I wouldn't have been able to kick any goals," Nahas said.
