Tigers back in top four contention
Werribee Tigers bounced back from their midweek Foxtel Cup defeated with an important win over second placed Casey Scorpions. Despite trailing early, the Tigers soon took control of the game to run out 56-point winners.
Early in the game it was all Casey as they raced out to a three goal lead before Werribee were able to kick their first major. However once the Tigers produced their first goal to Scott McMahon 12 minutes into the first term, the flood gates opened as they proceeded to kick 10 unanswered goals to turn a 19-point deficit in the first quarter to a 47-point half time lead. Addam Maric was a key target for them in the forwardline as the the Tigers shared around the goals.
The Tigers did not allow the Scorpions get back into the match in the second half, with the likes of Scott Clouston and Jake Wilson doing their job in defence for the Tigers. Maric was the leading goal scorer for the home side kicking through five majors, whilst the Tigers recorded an amazing 12 single goal scorers. Majak Daw (19 disposals) was solid in the ruck for Werribee and was among the best along with Scott McMahon, Ben Ross and Michael Sodomaco. For Casey, Cam Pedersen was their best moving between the forward line, defense and ruck, along with Evan Panozza, James Strauss and Dom Barry.
