The VFL returns to ABC TV Grandstand this Saturday, and you can catch all the action from the big clash between Sandringham and Coburg from 1pm on ABC1 in Victoria.
It’s been several years since the Zebras’ glory days in the mid-2000s, and they’ll be looking to get 2011 off to the perfect start as they try to climb back to the top of the VFL ladder. Coburg, under new coach Adam Potter, will be hoping to improve on their 11th-placed finish in 2011.
This year’s commentary team will again be led by Peter Donegan. Joining him throughout the year will be the ABC’s Darren Boyd and Ross Booth, VFA legend Phil Cleary, and a rotating group of specialist commentators to help guide viewers through the intricacies of the game.
Half-time will also see Phil Cleary back to interview a range of football identities, and this week’s feature interview will be with returning Casey star Kyle Matthews. The former Scorpions skipper missed all of season 2010 after being punched at a Hawthorn hotel, and Phil catches up with him as he looks to rebuild his career.
Tune in every Saturday from 1pm to ABC1 in 2011. As mentioned, the team will be there live to cover the first bounce of the season for Sandringham and Coburg.
