VFL practice matches get underway for season 2009 with games at Gosch's Paddock, Frankston and Geelong.
Second-year coaches Gavin Brown and Jade Rawlings can fine-tune their squads at Gosch's Paddock at 11am when Collingwood and the Coburg Tigers clash.
“It will be a pretty hotly contested game given that some of the boys haven’t as yet played a proper game against opposition," Brown told CTV.
Admittance to Saturday’s game at Gosh’s Paddock is free and parking is available on Olympic Boulevard in parking lot D.
Frankston will take on Drysdale at Frankston Oval at 2pm for the first time under new coach Shannon Grant.
Also on Saturday, Werribee, North Ballarat and North Melbourne players will take-on a Northern Bullants/Carlton side in a practice match at Visy Park at 8.30am.
Featured players include Werribee recruits Brant Dickson (Williamstown), Steve Kennedy (Western Jets), Josh Bryce (Murray Bushrangers), Lachlan Baddeley (Rupertswood) and Darren Haby (Western Jets).
Sunday sees Geelong and Bendigo Bombers have their first hit-out for 2009, when they square off at Skilled Stadium at 1pm.
The Cats will be coached by newcomer Dale Amos.
