VALE PAST COMMODORE JIM SHIELDS
It is never too late to recognise a QCYC Member and although Past Commodore Jim Shields passed away in November 2019 at the age of 93, it is important to recognise his commitment to our Club and remember that without Members like Jim our wonderful QCYC would not survive. Jim was Commodore from 1988 to 1990.
Jim’s son, Doug, who has been a Member since 1985, wrote the following:
"Dad, Jim, and Mum, Alison, were both longstanding and active members of QCYC starting in the 60s. Dad was Commodore, but I don’t recall the dates. It was the era of names such as the Farrows, MacAlisters, Wendsors, Ray Abicare, Curley Robinson and so on.
My sister Lyndie and I and our families have very fond memories of regularly staying at QCYC on Dad’s yachts Tulani and then Deliverance".
