Over 60 members attended the Working Bee and the AGM, at which outgoing Commodore Richard Lowe confirmed the renewal of the Club's lease after a lengthy process spanning 5-6 years and three past Commodores. The outcome justifies the wait and leaves the Club in a healthy state in which to face the next few decades.
Many congratulations to family member Margot Farman (photo above) who was presented with the QCYC 2019 Club Person of the Year Award at the AGM. For over 5 years Margot has worked quietly and efficiently behind the scenes securing the Club's essential supplies and has more recently taken over the running of the New Year's Day Seafood Lunch.
The Working Bee was very successful with members undertaking a variety of tasks including cleaning, gardening, painting and varnishing. At the end of the day the clubhouse and grounds looked spick and span ready for Opening Day two weeks later.
Outgoing Commodore Richard Lowe laid on morning tea, with a very welcome contribution from Betty Morrison, and later cooked a barbecue lunch which was served after the AGM.
Holding the Working Bee and the AGM on the same day at the clubhouse proved to be very popular and both events were relaxed, fuss-free and effective, a formula that will be followed over the next few years.
Past Commodore Roger Bennett was present throughout the day with his camera and recorded over 100 photos, of which a further selection are available in the Photo Gallery.
