Commodore Richard Lowe writes:
"The Winter Roast held on Sunday 14th July was an outstanding success and numerous members and guests told me it was the best QCYC function that they had attended. The tables looked very inviting and attractive with winter wattle and spring daffodils.
The food was excellent with spit roasts delicious and tender; the baked potatoes, sweet potatoes and peas were very well received, as were the cheese and fruit platters.
Sincere thanks to the following:
Chris Laker and Michael Graf for bringing the meat across The Cut in Mooney’s Folly (aka the Club run-about) at 5.00am in the morning so the meat could cook slowly for the required length of time; Jo Ritchie and Margot Farman for preparing the food, assisting with cooking and serving the food and working as a wonderful team with Ruth on Saturday and Sunday; Alan Farman, Chris and Michael G for bringing in the furniture, organising the spit roast, managing the spit roast and working throughout the weekend; Glenda Fowler and Sam Davis again doing a wonderful job running the Bar throughout the day. Also to Life Member John Gleeson who spent Saturday afternoon cleaning the windows of the Dining Room.
Special thanks to Andrew Beeston of Bellarine Country Butchers for supplying and expertly carving the excellent pork, lamb and beef.

Whilst we over catered, in fear of running out of food, people who attended appreciated being able to take away ‘doggie bags’ of lovely food.
Many members volunteered at the end of the day clearing tables and washing plates and glasses and generally cleaning up. It was an excellent all round Club event with a wonderful feeling of family involvement with everyone chipping in".
