New Years Day 2019 saw another highly successful Prawn and Oyster Luncheon at QCYC.
Over 120 participants filled the Clubroom and were served delicious chilled prawns and oysters prepared by Margot Farman and her team assisted by Judy Hodgkins.
Tables were dressed by members volunteering to make a large task readily completed - many hands making light work.
Margot and her team took delivery of over 100 doz oysters and prawns and packaged them in individual packs of six oysters or six prawns so they could be easily served with wedges of lemon and buttered bread.
Due to the meticulous preparation, the packs were served speedily and efficiently.
The Luncheon is also the occasion of the annual raffle for the Queenscliff charity ‘Cottage by the Sea’. QCYC member Hugo Armstrong had again done an outstanding job sourcing a broad range of raffle prizes from Queenscliff and Geelong businesses and events.
This year the raffle raised a total of $1,830, which was an excellent result.
An auction was also staged, for the opportunity for two people to experience heading out through the heads on a Pilot boat to meet a ship - for most people associated with the water, it is a childhood dream.
After spirited bidding, the prize was won with a successful bid of $1,500, with proceeds also going to 'Cottage by the Sea’.
Thanks in particular to Margot and Hugo and to all other members who volunteered to help to make the day such a resounding success.
