Bill Ethell has notified us that a three-bedroom, two storey house in Killiecrankie Bay on the North East tip of Flinders Island is available for a 6 or 12 month lease. Heavy moorings for hire are also available in Killicrankie Bay.
It’s the perfect spot to explore the beautiful eastern end of Bass Strait. A public mooring (for up to 14m boats) exists off the beach at Prime Seal Island offering shelter from North West to South West winds. Prime Seal is an easy two hour sail from Killiecrankie and another public mooring an hours sail from Prime Seal offering shelter from North East to South South West winds is located close to the picture perfect little swimming beach near the township of Emita.
Flinders Island is a delight to cruise and explore by land and provides a good base for day sails to Deal and Erith Island. The Tamar River stretching from Bass Strait to Launceston is in easy reach with moorings aplenty, marinas and good anchorages.
The house itself has a large north facing balcony and open plan living, kitchen and dining area. It looks over the bay, out to Bass Strait Islands and the magnificent granite bluff of Old Man’s Head. Located in a beautiful, private bush setting with wildlife such as wallabies, wombats and birds your daily visitors. Provisions, slipway, moorings and safe anchorages are located at Lady Barron a half day sail away or 40 minutes by car from the house. There is also an airfield thirty minutes away with regular flights to Tasmania and Melbourne.
Killiecrankie is a delightful spot, and ever so quiet with only a handful of permanent residents. The house is located on Armstrong Ave, Killiecrankie, Flinders Island.
It may also be possible for a house swap with the owner of the house, who is looking for a six or twelve month stay in the Geelong and Belleraine region.
